Argentina

Argentina, the best of the best

This is my number one place. I stayed at the Lao Lao the finest hotel in South America.  Wow, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, rappelling, golf. See my story on Argentina. Loa Loa Bariloche Hotel, 5 Star Resort and one of the finest hotles in the world. Surrounded by the Cerro Lopez and Tronador mountain peaks and the Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes, the Hotel has a 15-hectare park, including the 18-hole golf course, the marina, beach, solarium, heated indoor and outdoor vanishing edge swimming-pools, Spa and Healthclub with sauna, Fitness Center and other leisure activities.

Handcrafted boards of solid wood Cypress and Pine-Hemlock were used for the floorings.
The Hotel has two wings: Ala Bustillo and Lago Moreno wings. The first wing has 162 rooms, overlooking the Moreno and Nahuel Huapi lakes and the Cerro López mountain peak.
The Lago Moreno wing has 43 deluxe studios and suites overlooking the Moreno Lake Suite.

Llao Llao has five restaurants. Guests can enjoy a wide variety of dishes, from International Cuisine to our top level traditional food, such as the popular “Llao Llao Tea” which is served overlooking the spectacular view of the Hotel gardens and the breathtaking Nahuel Huapi Lake

It is the lake district, look at this awesome beautiful place.

I went fly fishing for trout here and it was the best place.  Leaving the dock above.  First the fishing then the other activities follow.

Fishing in Bariloche offers everything for the international fly angler including highly diverse trout waters, a variety of lodge accommodations and activities for non-fishing companions.  To the west of Bariloche lie dense temperate rainforests with secluded lakes and emerald rivers (below).

Off to the east, the dry Patagonia steppe is refreshed by large, clear rivers occupied by trophy trout and few anglers.  The main waters around Bariloche are the Manso, Limay and Pichi Leufu Rivers plus Fonck, Moscas and Hess Lakes

With it’s crystal clear waters (above), picturesque views and large quantity of huge fish, the Limay is one of the most renowned rivers in Patagonia. The ratio of rainbows to browns is about 3:1 and multiple trophy fish are released every year. Throughout November the river is high with run off, yet still clear and filled with voracious rainbows averaging 20 inches.  December brings fast dry fly action with mostly caddis flies and some days you just can’t keep them off the hook. January through March offers more technical fishing with dries, nymphs and streamers.

In the fall months of April and May, angler’s focus on size instead of numbers. Five to 15 pound browns enter the river from the lake around late March and can provide anglers with the same size of fish as the Sea Run Browns found in Tierra del Fuego. During this time the fishing is very much like steelheading. We use all types of fishing techniques to catch these fish, however, sinking tips and shooting head lines tend to produce the best results. It should be noted that trophy fish in the 10-15 pound range can be caught during any time of the season
