Juniors Champions

31The Juniors has turned out to be a huge event in the State of Maryland.  The Juniors came about from the Fitzgerald Cup.  Bob Travers (Captain for Maryland)  and Glenn Canner CAptain for the District) raised funds for the juniors for the Fitzgerald cup in 1999.  After a successful fundraising they split the funds for each entity (Maryland – District) and then Bob Travers, Bob Everd John Voneiff and David Huntley got together and set up a segregated account called (The Travers and Ottenritter Junior Endowment) (later commingled with the MSSRA operating funds). The four created the event called ” The MSSRA Junior High School Championships and the first tournament was help in 2000.  Over the years it has changed its name now called the MIA high school Championships. It is the largest event participated in for squash today and led the the building of courts at:  St. Pauls, Roland Park and the large high school teams we have today
