On the Travers side Our lineage goes way back below

Oliver Slater Travers Sr. heritage below with photos  : and many family member were called Mathew which is a little confusing: uncles, fathers, cousins etc.  

 William travers 1640-1701 Gentleman and Merchant and Elizabeth Chapline (Elizabeth was the daughter of William and Mary Hooper). He was Born in Winwick, Lancashire, England on Oct 1640 to Henry Travers and Bridget Fitts. William Travers married Elizabeth Chapline and had 5 children. He passed away on 1701-10-24 in Dorchester, Maryland,USA. He was the great great great great grandfather of my grandfather, In his will William Travers gave to son Matthew Travers and heirs 300 acres of “Chaplain’s Home” and “Rich Point” on Hooper’s Island. To son William Travers at 18 years of age and heirs 170 acres of “Shoppley’s Chance” on Hooper’s Island. 

Mathew Travers   1672-1742  & Elizabeth Hooper- Hooper island and he was the Son of William above and had a sister named Elizabeth and his wife’s name was also Elizabeth and his wife was a “hopper” 

Matthew Travers 1697-1755 and Susannah Ashcomb of Hoopers Island were the great great grandparents of my grandfather. Born 1697 and Died 1755 on Hoppers Island, He was the Son of Matthew Travers Sr. and Elizabeth Travers above. He was the husband of Savannah Ann Reeder and the Father of Thomas Travers, Matthew Travers, John Ashcomb Travers, Sr., Elizabeth Cox, Mathias Travers . His brothers were: Sarah Travers, Mary Keene, William H Travers, Col. Henry Travers and John Hicks Travers .  

Thomas Travers 1683-1767 : He was the father of Mathew below . and In the will of William his father listed above – William his father left Thomas Thomas Traverse at 18 years of age and heirs 50 acres of “Shopley’s Increase” on island aforesaid. In event of death of any son without issue, his estate to pass to next male heir-at-law. To children to wit: to my sons Matthew Traverse, William Traverse and Thomas Traverse and to my daughters Elizabeth Traverse and Mary Traverse and Sarah Traverse to be equally divided to every one of them an equal proportion. 

Matthew Travers (Father of Matthias and Mathew below) was born in 1708-1765, in Dorchester, Maryland, British Colonial America, his father, Thomas Travers, was 25 and his mother, Sarah Keene, was 20. He married Ann Hicks about 1729, in Dorchester, Maryland, British Colonial America. He died in 1765, in Hooper Islands, Dorchester, Maryland, United States, at the age of 57.

Matthew Travers (father of Jeremiah) was born about 1758, died 1832 in Hooper Islands, Dorchester, Maryland, United States, his father, Matthew Travers, was 51 and his mother, Ann Broome, was 47. He married Mary Mead on 21 November 1781, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 12 May 1832, in Dorchester, Maryland, United States, at the age of 75, and was buried in Dorchester, Maryland, United States.

Matthias Travers 1755-1832  (was a brother of Matthew above) and Elizabeth Hopper, 1790-1847. When Matthias Travers was born on 23 December 1755, in Dorchester, Maryland, British Colonial America, his father, Matthew Travers, was 47 and his mother, Ann Broome, was 43. He married Letitia Aaron Keene on 31 May 1782, in Dorchester, Maryland, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 7 daughters. He registered for military service in 1836. He died on 26 February 1838, in Dorchester, Maryland, United States, at the age of 82, and was buried in Taylors Island, Dorchester, Maryland, United States..

Jeremiah Thomas Travers 1821-1885 – and Sarah Navey 1843).  Jeremiah owned Portobello the Plantation in Southern Maryland across from St. Mary’s. When Jeremiah Thomas Travers was born on 19 December 1821, in Dorchester, Maryland, United States, his father, Matthew Travers, was 64 and his mother, Elizabeth Ann Hooper, was 31. He married Sarah R. Navy on 11 June 1845, in Dorchester, Maryland, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland, United States in 1850 and St. Mary’s, Maryland, United States in 1860. He died on 19 January 1885, at the age of 63.

Henry Clay Travers 1847 -1909 and Mary Rachel Wall, were the parents of Oliver Travers Sr (my grand father). When Henry Clay Travers was born on 4 June 1848, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, his father, Jeremiah Thomas Travers, was 26 and his mother, Sarah R. Navy, was 24. He married Mary Rachel Wall on 2 January 1877, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in St. Mary’s, Maryland, United States in 1860 and Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland, United States in 1880. He died on 18 August 1909, in Maryland, United States, at the age of 61, and was buried in Woodlawn, Baltimore, Maryland, United States

Oliver Slater Travers Sr. my grandfather: was born on 14 November 1893, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, his father, Henry Clay Travers, was 45 and his mother, Mary Rachel Wall, was 39. He had at least 1 son with Mary Tacie Lair. He lived in District 9 Election District, Baltimore, Maryland, United States for about 20 years. He died on 2 April 1975, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, at the age of 81. My Grandfather, Oliver Slater Travers Sr. fought in the war and much of this information is on the opening page so here is a short easy to read section

Jeremiah Thomas Travers 1821-1885 owned the plantation Porto Bello below located in St. Mary’s City and it was named after Porto Bello in England where they did trading and Porto Bello got bombed in the War of 1812 and it is awesome

I was the son of: Oliver Slater Travers Jr.   2/10,1926 – Oct 23, 2019 and Mary Jean Elizabeth Rudolphi Schenuit Travers (Schenuit) 2/28/1932 – 9/5/2017.  Mary Jean Schenuit (My mom) was the daughter of Frank Schenuit = (Schenuit Tire )and Hilda Koester = (Koester Bakery) Hilda was the daughter of Lisette and Eilert Koester the founders of Koester’s bread 

I was the Grandson of Oliver Travers Sr. who was married to Tacie Lair – 1895-1979

I was the Great Grandson of Henry Clay Travers 1847 -1909 and Mary Rachel Wall – Marriage Certificate below
