Koester Family

Koester’s Bakery was founded by:

Eilert Koester (9-1858 to 11-7-1948) and his wife Lisette (12-1860 to 8-7-1947). Eilert Koester (9-1858 to 11-7-1948) and his wife Lisette (12-1860 to 8-7-1947). Both Eilert and Lisette were born in Germany. Eilert H koester was born in Oldenburg Germany and came to the United States as a baker while working as a baker on Ocean Liners. Eilert married Lisette and they had two children at the time, William Sr. (3-1888) and Hilda (my grandmother )(12-1893) who married Frank G. Schenuit later in life).  In 1885 they started the Koester’s Bakery that bore his name.

Hilda Koester my Grandmother (1893-1958) was the daughter of the founders of Koester’s Bakery,  Eilert Koester and Lissette 

William Herman Koester Sr. 1888-1964  HE was married to Margaret Aurelia Ebe Koester 1895-1978 and was the son of Eilert Koester and Lissett Koester and he was sister to my grandmother Hilda Koester . He managed the Koester Bakery was born about 1888 and died about 1964. HE was married to Margaret Ebe Koester 1895-1978.  He had 2 sons and they were: 1)William Herman Koester jr. and 2) Richard Eilert Koester below

William Herman Koester Jr. 1919-2007 was the son of William Herman Koester Sr. and Margaret Aurelia Ebe Koester. He graduated from Gilman and went to Dartmouth. He was a big game hunter in Africa and South America and loved music and was an actor in New York for sometime where he preformed in a touring company and also preformed in the television soap opera “The Secret Storm” In the 1950’s he returned to Baltimore to manage Koesters bakery. HE was a member of the Dartmouth Outdoors Club, and a counselor to substance abusers and worked out of the Baltimore Washington Medical Center

Richard Eilert Koester 1921-1998 was the son of William Herman Koester Sr and Margaret Ebe Koester . He married Marion Elizabeth Griesemer and he got divorced and then married Gloria Lindermann they had a son Richard G Koester and a daughter Margaret and he had 5 step daughters.

Margaret Ebe Koester:  There was a sister of Richard and William named after her mom Margaret E. Koester but she died at 10 years old born 1924-died 1935 and she like the others are buried at Druid Ridge Cemetery
