Brevard
10We traveled this time with John and Louise from Raleigh to Brevard. The night before we left for Brevard we went to hear John rock it up
Brevard is a must for many things: road biking, mountain biking, hiking, museums and the Biltmore is not far away. I have been visiting on and off since 1975 with Peper White back then and now Arden and her family. This recent time I went down for a bike race and the hub is the center of it all. I rode with the owner in Trans-Portugal bike race
knee surgery ended the dream of riding with my awesome nephew Brian. Brian did the race and did well
Arden and I, John and Lou had a great time going to the Pisgah forest and hiked around taking some great shots in Transylvania County which is the birthplace of science-based forest management
the entire forest is a living legacy to the Vanderbilt’s as they owned it all. (You have to visit the Biltmore Estate a 175,000 square foot mansion ) over the top is an understatement
and we visited the Cradle of Forestry in America Exhibits – this is a must
It is an amazing exhibit with movies/videos and tours and it is not crowded
So we went to sliding rock and toured the area
with beautiful waterfalls
After a full day of sightseeing we went to a Sierra Nevada brewery
and had some pints
