GAP BIKE 2022

We rode the great Allegheny Passage a couple of times and this time we did it in its entirety of 150 miles from Pittsburg to Cumberland. We drove to Cumberland this time (before we took the train) and were transported by Wheelzup Adventures to Pittsburg and they are great and provide: bike, tours and kayaking. We stayed in the Marriott Southside which is directly on the trail. Pittsburg was once renowned for its steel production and related manufacturing but now it is known for its medical research, higher education and tech start ups.  Plus it has the Andy Warhole and Fort Pitt museums. We rode around and it has 446 bridges more than any city in the world and it has many fine dinning spots which you will see below.

From the Marriott Southside in Pittsburg we rode the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP)  and the River Heritage trail below to the beginning of the GAP Trail.

At the beginning point of the GAP trail at Point State Park where the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers meet and combine, there was an incredible water fountain below

and boats that provided dinner tours and one can rent kayaks here as well

Arden and Louise took the Duquesene Line which is a lift from the water to the top on the hill that offers great views of the start of the GAP trail below.
