Asheville Art

We went to visit the River Art District in Asheville located along the French Broad River and it was a wonderful arts center.


The French Broad River is one of the oldest rivers in the road, and the Norfolk Southern Railroad served the industrial building and companies on the banks of the French Broad in Asheville until a huge storm flooded the industrial sites leaving the buildings abandoned.  Later as the town of Asheville began its renaissance the area became home to displaced artists starting in the mid 70’s and 80’s.

By the mid 1990’s the first studio was opened to the public and now over 200 artists open their doors in the “River Arts District” and it is awesome with dinning facility and many buildings hosting top artists


 
WE spent a majority of the morning and early afternoon here and would totally recommend visiting photos below  

 

 

After the day spent here we dinned at historic “Orchard INN” in Saluda North Carolina below
